The seeds of the NDRI Graduates Association (NGA) were sown on December 23, 2006, when the visionary B.Tech (DT) students of NDRI (National Dairy Research Institute) gathered the Institute's Graduate Alumni at the NDRI Staff Club to propose the concept of a unified platform. Responding swiftly to the call for action, an adhoc Executive Committee was swiftly formed, setting the stage for what would become a transformative journey.

Building upon this initial momentum, the association's constitution took shape, culminating in its official registration with the Registrar of Societies in Karnal as the "NDRI GRADUATES ASSOCIATION" in February 2007. This milestone marked the formalization of the association's commitment to nurturing a vibrant community of NDRI alumni dedicated to the advancement of the dairy industry.

The inaugural event, the 1st Annual Meet of NDRI Graduates Association, held on April 14, 2007, served as a poignant reunion for over 250 Graduate Alumni, marking a historic moment as they returned to their alma mater. Emotions ran high as attendees reminisced about their shared experiences, and the overwhelming response underscored the deep sense of pride and camaraderie among NDRI Graduates. This gathering sparked a flurry of ideas and discussions aimed at propelling the dairy sector forward.

The unwavering support, both financial and moral, extended by the graduates towards organizing such annual meets proved pivotal, laying a solid foundation for the association's future endeavors. This collective commitment underscored the alumni's dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration within the NDRI community.

The momentum continued to build with the 2nd Annual Meet of NGA on December 8, 2007, which coincided with a half-day workshop titled "Changing Lifestyle - Opportunities for Dairy Sector" held at Hotel Jewels, Karnal. This event held particular significance as it commemorated the completion of 50 years since the enrollment of NDRI's First Batch of graduates, affectionately known as the Golden Jubilee Batch. The occasion was marked by honoring and felicitating graduates who had completed 50 or 25 years of association with the esteemed Institute, representing the batches enrolled in 1957 and 1982 respectively. The glittering ceremony was attended by six graduates from the first batch alongside more than 200 NDRI graduates, symbolizing a powerful testament to the enduring legacy of NDRI and the unwavering commitment of its alumni to driving progress within the dairy sector.
